Guys! Happy #FASHIONWEDNESDAY! It has been nonstop rain and drizzling the past few days, so I thought I would show you my favorite rainy day outfit! I really don’t like the rain, but if it is going to be raining, you might as well look as cute as possible, amiright? On the day Michelle and I took these pictures, it definitely wasn’t raining (camera + rain = bad), so just pretend that there are puddles around me. 😉 Let’s just jump into this.

HOW TO STYLE RAIN BOOTS

How To Dress Adorably In The Rain (or the pretend rain)

STEP ONE: Grab your favorite rain boots.

HOW TO STYLE RAIN BOOTS

Obviously, if it is raining, one must wear their favorite rain boots. I love rain boots. A couple christmas’s ago, I was gifted these GOREGOUS red Hunter boots and I haven’t looked back since. In fact, after I got these as a gift, I immediately turned around and bought myself a second pair of black ones! And, I will probably get another pair pretty soon (there are some olive green ones that are calling my name). They work perfect for the rain (as they are solid rubber), but I also like to wear them during the snow. They hold in warmth incredibly well and in the 4+ years I’ve had them, they barely look worn. Life’s too short not to buy the cute rain boots.

STEP TWO: Wear a bold lip.

I have said it before. You know the drill. This will always be included in my How-To for any style. You don’t have to be wearing a stitch of makeup on any other part of your face, but throwing on a bright red (or pink…or plum) lip will ALWAYS pull your look together. When it is grey and colorless outside, I find that adding a bright lip often helps me to perk up just a little bit. You look better, you feel better, and you bring a little color in an otherwise blah day.

STEP THREE: Bubble umbrellas are the BOMB.

Ahhh. The bubble umbrella. I first sighted these amazing contraptions on Gossip Girl thanks to Serena and Blair (my fashion idols now and forever)….and from that day on I knew I had to have my own. So last summer, when Target came out with these for only $20 (linked at the bottom of the post), I jumped on them immediately. Not only do they keep you like 30% more dry — real scientific facts, I swear —  they also make you look awesome. And to be honest, anything that makes me look more like I belong in Gossip Girl is okay by me.

STEP FOUR: Pick a statement top.

I don’t wear this shirt as much as I should but I love it because it goes perfectly with my rain boots and a red accent pieces. I have been getting into patterns more because I want to get out of my comfort zone. If you look in my closet, you will see dozens of monochrome cream, nude, black and maroon. I really wanted to break away from that a little bit so when I saw this at Express a few seasons ago, I jumped on it. This light weight button up isn’t “loud” but it does have just a hint of sass.

HOW TO STYLE RAIN BOOTS

There you have it, ladies! My favorite way to dress for those rainy, fall days! It is getting a bit cooler and the rain is inevitable with the changing seasons. So, go grab your favorite Starbucks drink, and pick up a pair of Hunters to get you through the winter.
