Pick your plaid.

Ok. So. Plaid, amiright? I almost always think of plaid as a fall staple. When I think plaid, I think my husband’s oversized button ups tied around my waist and plaid blanket scarves. AKA. October. HOWEVER. When I was shopping for this Valentine’s Day, I saw this lil plaid number – the light tan, the baby pink, the grey. It still said SPRING to me and it still had that little bit of rosy accent color to aid in my Valentine’s Day outfit.

Alternatives to a plaid shift dress: plaid button up top in a silk, satin or sheer material. It’s lighter than your fleece fall counterparts and if you stick to light colors and pops of pink or red, it will still look festive. A pink or red plaid scarf would be SO cute OR potentially a neutral outfit with a pair of pink or red plaid booties. SO. CUTE.

Accessories are your FRIEND.

PLAY IT UP. It’s super important that you pick the right accessories for this outfit so that you don’t get lost in a sea of plaid. I opted for these really fun heart earrings – they’re gold and dainty and look PERFECT when paired with the light colors and grey of the plaid dress. I also opted for fun light taupe booties that looked AMAZING next to the light pink stripes. To accentuate my ever disappearing waist, I chose a sparkly gold belt to match the rest of my gold accessories.

Alternatives to these accessories would be: a light pink infinity scarf. Something light, but still warm enough for February. You could also throw on a statement necklace and matching arm party to play up textures and colors!! It’s an easy way to not feel bulky, but still look put together.

Play up some pink…because we aren’t heathens, after all.

I pulled pink in with my lipstick, bracelet & balloons. I love the light pink because it isn’t overwhelming. A light pink on the eyes with a good neutral pink lip tie in that stripe on the dress that may otherwise get lost in a sea of other colors.

Opt for pink accessories like earrings or a necklace – or a fun light pink purse would be the PERFECT addition to this outfit and bring that exact shade into your style.
