4 Tips On Wearing Summer Whites & Booties
Another week has come and gone and that means #fashionwednesday has once again come around (YAYYYY). This past week I bought a new camera (squeal), posted my latest video tutorial (have you watched it yet?!… find it here) and saw Suicide Squad. Have any of you seen it? My hubby and I LOVED IT. Loved enough that we are joining the masses and going as Harley Quinn & Joker this halloween. Anyways, I love this day because I can show off Michelle’s photography and also showcase my favorite outfits. Today’s post is all about my favorite summer white top and my current favorite booties. It isn’t labor day yet which means I can totally still pull this off right?!
How To Wear Summer Whites & Booties
Step One: Choose your whites wisely.
Not all whites were created equal. Some are more on the cream side, while other are so white they photograph with a blue tint. It is best to stay away from that blue hue and choose to go more ivory if you can. This shirt is very white, but doesn’t quite cross the line into blue. Your skin tone also has a lot to do with this. Are you more cool toned? Then a brighter white will look amazing on you. Yellow or pink toned? Try going more cream because it will bring out the natural flush in your face. For those of you who are naturally tan (or just got lucky this summer), most whites will work for you. Be careful if you are on the paler side of the skin tone spectrum because, if you are like me, it can tend to wash you out.
Step Two: Accessories are a girls best friend.
I chose a bold statement necklace, dainty earrings and a chunky watch to complete this outfit and also grabbed my favorite bright pink Coach purse to add an extra pop of color. The combination of white, gold and hot pink is one of my favorites so I threw on my TooFaced Melted Liquid Lipstick in Fuchsia to bring that color all the way up to my face. The end result is a fairly neutral outfits with specific attention grabbers. The sparkle and shine works cohesively with the sweet crocheted and scalloped detailing on the shirt. If you go for a larger necklace, hang back with the earrings so that you don’t overwhelm the top half of your body. I always try to wear a watch or bracelet of some kind as well to balance my big necklace on the lower half of my body.
Step Three: The right blue for you.
Remember when I said not all whites are created equal? Same goes for the color of your jeans. I love these skinnies. They are my go-to in the summer. They are light jeans, which is PERFECT for this outfit. I would not pair dark jeans here because it will darken the whole outfit. You want to feel light and bright and sparkly. Darker jeans will cut some of that out. You could also alternatively pair ripped boyfriend jeans to this outfit to get a more distressed feel. I could 100% get on board with that. Basically what I’m saying is match your jeans to the feel of your outfit. For fall and winter, lean towards the darker colors. For spring and summer, lighten it up!
Step Four: 4am bootie call.
See what I did there? Choosing the right booties is the world’s easiest task because booties are amazing and they all look fantastic. So. There’s that. I chose these booties because they have a beautiful coffee color and they’re super fun. Chunky heel, peep toe and sling back?? SIGN ME UP! They are on sale at Payless right now as well just FYI. They are super comfortable (I’ve never gotten a single blister from wearing them) and they match just about every outfit. Because they have a peep toe and sling back you can wear them in the summer but they transition beautifully into the fall. They are the perfect neutral and I feel really good about them. Ok. Great.
