Happy #FASHIONWEDNESDAY!! It’s a happy hump day here at the Mobley household. Today’s post is one that I’m hoping will become an annual tradition. Around this time last year, I put out what is still one of my post popular posts to date: How To Look Like A Grownup In Overalls.  I get traffic from this post every day and so I figured I’d revamp it for 2017. TOO MANY women are scared to wear overalls because they don’t think they can pull them off, but I would go ahead and guess that those same women would love to be able to rock them. We all know the key to rocking ANYTHING is having enough confidence to be bold, but a little smart styling can go along way, too.

Styling Faded Overalls For Dummies

Ok, ok, ok. You are SO not a dummy. But maybe when it comes to styling overalls, you just have NO idea where to start. That’s TOTALLY FINE because this is NOT a self explanatory piece of clothing.

So, tell me if this sounds like you: Maybe you bought a pair of overalls at the end of last season thinking…MAYBE I’ll wear them come spring and summer and they’re only $10 and what’s the harm in trying? But this season has rolled around, and you still haven’t gotten them out of your closet and you are wondering why the heck you bought them in the first place.

FEAR NOT: This is the EASIEST way to style overalls and look fabulous while doing it. And EVERYONE can look fabulous. I promise.

Step One: Choose the overall style that flatters your body shape.

I will always go for longer overalls. It looks great on my figure, and I’m all for bringing out my best features. There are SEVERAL types of overalls to choose from. Think: short, long, printed, denim and white. I opted for faded denim because it is so easy to pair with idk EVERYTHING.

Step Two: Choose the right undershirt to go with your chosen overall style.

You can go one of two ways, here. Dressy or casual (if you don’t believe overalls can be dressed up, see my post on that HERE). I opted for casual this time around. Here is where graphic tees come in. I <3 graphic tees more than life itself. You might think I’m being dramatic but #sorrynotsorry. This is one of my personal favorites because it is pretty plain but has a cute statement on it. Decide whether or not you want to dress up or down, and then match your undershirt to that style.

Step Three: Choose the right shoes to put the look all the together.

So if you’ve decided to go casual, there’s really only one pair of shoes that will seal the deal here: CHUCKS. I lovelovelove my converse, and anytime I am going street casual, I throw them on. I suppose you could also wear a pair of adidas or keds, as well. They all look chic and casual at the same time. If you opted to go the dress route: nude heels or colored heels will make the perfect pop.

Like I said…it is totally easy to put together. More than likely, you have everything you need to pull this look off already. The last piece of advice I have for pulling this style off is this: CONFIDENCE. You can pull off ANY style if you have the confidence to do it.

  6. I absolutely ADORE overalls! They’re the original romper (my 5 year old self lived in them). I have one pair that’s so slimming and sleek and I love dressing them up with a cropped vibrant tank and a killer leather jacket with heels. Yes, they can definitely be worn dressed up! I also love how you styled this pair more casually. I gotta get my hands on a distressed style soon!
