More For Less: Celebrity Styles
Raise your hand if you have ever drooled over the cover of Vogue magazine in the check out line over whatever Blake Lively is wearing at the moment (if your hand isn’t raised, you’re lying. Stop that). You flip through the pages to see where you can get those shoes because you must have them. I get it. Been there. And then you see it. The two…three…four numbers behind that little dollar sign. Shooooooot. Lucky for you, I’ve taken 3 popular celebrity outfits and am showing you how to recreate them on a budget, because some of us have cats to feed (or children, wherever you’re at in life right now).
Why do I love Blake Lively. I could not write a list long enough. A) She’s a perfect human being. B) She doesn’t use a personal stylist because “it would be like baking a cake and then handing it over to someone else to ice and decorate” (we should all feel this way). C) How much time do you have…? 😉
But seriously. She is so great. I have based a good 1/3 of my closet off of styles that I see Blake wearing. She is so classy and put together. Plus I was a Gossip Girl junkie. So there’s that.
I chose an outfit of Blake’s that I feel like is the perfect street style. It is easy, effortless and still totally put together.
So this outfit cost around $750 (based on what similar styles are currently available). The jeans and shoes cost the most. Celebrities, amiright? I was able to put together a super similar outfit — except for the shirt. I couldn’t find a t-shirt that totally resembled it so I threw in a different graphic tee. I still think it works. This outfit cost $141 including bag, jewelry and shoes:
Idol #2: T-squeezy. My homie. I love her so much. Except her hair right now is stressing me out. Bring back the dirty blonde, T! REGARDLESS. Another 1/3 of my closet comes from T-swift inspiration. She is so classic and adorable and for the most part, barring her crop top obsession — but let’s be real, she rocks that — modest.
I chose an outfit of hers that I feel like embodies what people think of when they hear her name. Sweet, simple and girlie. Also. Expensive. The dress alone was $200…plus the shoes and the handbag… we are looking at $500 here. I don’t have that much to spend on an outfit. Do you?
She is so cute. Wow. HIIII T-swifty. Anyways. I modified this look like a bit when I was putting the outfit together to fit my style a little more. A) I’m not really vibing that green bag B) I like the dress I picked just a bit better. But it’s the same idea.
I kept the colors: cobalt blue, turquoise and coral. I skipped the yellow but mostly because I don’t really like yellow on me. You could, however, pull off some rocking yellow earrings. I’m more of a neutral bag kind of girl so I opted for that and I LOVE LACE. Take it as you will.
Do I need to explain? Did you watch The Hills? Laguna Beach? Yes or no? Ok. If that was a no, go brush up on early 2000s reality TV. Also she has written three of my favorite books — Beauty, Style & Celebrate. Go read them. They are AMAZING. Learn how to look as fly as Lauren Conrad and also how to throw amazing parties.
MOVING ON. I chose an outfit from Laurenconrad.com and I love it and I also could not afford the price tag (the outfit originally cost around $350 — probably because those jeans are to die for). SO I decided to make a cheaper version. And here we are. Look at this perfection:
HEEYYYYY look how adorable this is. So casual and perfect for summer. Can you see why we all need this in our lives? But let’s try to do it for less dollars. Like how does $133 sound?
This is just as cute for like half the price. That is what I am TALKING about. Crushed it. I actually think I have to order than bag because how cute is that? I’m all about good vibes only.
So there you have it my friends. Three summer celebrity outfits on a budget. Go get to creating, my pretty people. Be sure to let me know in the comments who your favorite celebrity idol is! I want to know!!
ALSO. If you recreate one of these looks, I want to see it! Tag me on instagram @blondeandambitiousblog so that I can see how pretty you all look. 🙂
