October 2018 Monthly Obsessions
HAPPY FRI-YAY! It’s the last Friday in October (crazy, right?) which means it’s time for MONTHLY OBSESSIONS!! This is my favorite monthly obsessions yet because #THISISHALLOWEEEEEEN. I am a Halloween lover, in case you weren’t aware, so I have so many favorites that relate to my favorite holiday. Check out all of my best October faves below – let’s dive into this!
October 2018 Monthly Obsessions
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
I am not going to lie – I am late to this band wagon. Like. Over 18 years late. #whoops. I never watched Buffy back in it’s hay day, but early this month I was scrolling through Huluween (the Halloween section on Hulu) and it was recommended! I needed a show that I could have on in the background while I was working (something I didn’t necessarily have to pay complete attention to…like the Haunting On Hill House, for example) and this fit the bill.
Turns out, Buffy and I have the same birthday (January 19th) so I think I may be the new slayer. Stay Tuned.
Cinnamon Roasted Pecans from Sugar Cubed
THESE ACTUALLY CHANGED MY LIFE. If you live near downtown St. Charles, and can swing by Sugar Cubed asap, you will NOT regret getting their cinnamon roasted pecans. I bought a whole bag and pretty much ate them in one night. They are SO good and since they’re a nut…..it’s almost like they’re healthy right? If you forget about the sugar? Regardless of the nutritional value (or lackthereof) – they are delicious and I’ll be dreaming about them forever. Also FUN FACT I meant to save the bag and a few of these to shoot for this post and then I accidentally ate them all and I haven’t been back to downtown St. Charles let to get more so….enjoy this picture from their website so you can see them in their glory. #badbloggeralert
Archer, our new puppy
We adopted our cute little pup at the end of last month – and this month has been ALL puppy. We are obsessed with our newest family member and he already fits right in. The cats don’t even hate him that much. 😉 We have been having the best time navigating the waters of new dog ownership and expanding our little fam by four furry feet.
Stranger Things
Do I even need to go into detail about this? Stranger Things is an October NO BRAINER. The hubby and I love Stranger Things and watch it each October. We have been really good at spacing ourselves out this year (we usually binge the seasons in just a few days) but we have been trying to watch only one – MAX TWO – a night. It’s something we both look forward to doing together because Adam doesn’t love scary movies, but it still feels Halloween-y to me.
Sinful Colors Halloween Nail Polish Collection
IF YOU DIDN’T PEEP MY INSTAGRAM STORIES EARLIER THIS WEEK YOU MISSED OUT. Sinful Colors sent me a BIG PR box of their Halloween nail polish colors. I now am the proud new sporter of glow in the dark nails and I’m not mad about it. I have been really trying to go outside of my comfort zone with nail colors lately, so this came right in time!
October Boxy Charm
You guys know that I love my Boxy Charm boxes!!! This month was a full sized eyeshadow palette (with KILLER sparkle shades), full sized mascara and an awesome Kat Von D liquid lipstick in a perfect vampy shade. It was the perfect box to ring in the Halloween season. They also included a fabulous bamboo charcoal mask and cleansing balm which is SO nice considering my face gets a lot of wear and tear during the month of October with special effects makeup.
My Walit
This little handy wallet has been fantastic to travel with because it ALSO holds a passport. You never have to go through an airport again digging through everything you own just to find your ID and passport when you get to security – #BLESS. I love that I can easily fit all my cash and cards in it and I loooooove the dark brown/light brown combo that pretty much matches everything. Needless to say: I am a fan.
Red Queen book series
I don’t often get into a new book series because I rarely have time to read for fun anymore, BUT I made a goal to myself to read 30 minutes every night before bed this month and while I haven’t been perfect, I have been better at taking some time away from my phone before falling asleep. This book series TOTALLY captured my attention and is right up my dystopian society love!
Halloween socks
’nuff said. I love fun socks and always wear them with fun colors or patterns. October is all about HALLOWEEN and that means Halloween accessories. Particularly Halloween SOCKS. They are comfy and totally festive.
Ghost Tours in Downtown St. Charles
My mom and I went on one of these awesome ghost tours earlier this week and it was SO much fun. We went on the Charleston Ghost Tour when we were in South Carolina earlier this year – but this was fun being so close to home! It was spooky and historical, which is just how I like it.
I hope you guys found some fun new favorites to try out before the month is over (or to carry over into November…I’m not here to judge). This is always my favorite post of the month. I LOVE learning more about myself throughout the month, too!
