Happy Fri-YAY, everyone! It’s a beautiful June day here in Missouri and we are officially 3ish weeks out from meeting our baby boy! I feel like that is totally insane and I can’t believe it’s already almost here. The last 36.5 weeks FLEW by, that is for sure. We have been working on his nursery for weeks and weeks now, and I am SO glad it’s finally done. I have just been sitting in the rocking chair for days now with the sunshine in the room, just enjoying the space and imagining what life will be life once baby boy is here. ANYWAYS – if you are anxious to see the room…read on. 😉

Neutral Safari Nursery Decor Reveal

NURSERY DECOR:

The nursery theme is neutral safari. We chose this theme before we knew what gender we were having. I have always loved the idea of safari animals on the walls, and elephant decor and what not. It was a great gender neutral theme, and once we found out we were having a boy, we added some details that are pretty typical boy!

For the crib and dresser, we decided if we were having a boy to do darker colored furniture vs. a light or white colored wood. I love the grain on these pieces, and I feel like they will grow with Jack really nicely. We bought the pieces to turn the crib into a toddler bed and a twin bed eventually down the road, so it’ll be great to see him grow up with these nice, sturdy pieces.

For the rocking chair, we opted for another great Target find. This chair is grey, which match his bedding and other decor pieces. It’s SO COMFORTABLE. There were other chairs that looked maybe a little bit more chic, but this chair is something I could sleep in it’s so comfortable. It feels good on my back and it reclines. I personally look forward to the many, many hours I will spend nursing Jack in it.

When it comes to his wall decor, we got them from several different places. I ordered the baby animal prints from Etsy. They were downloadable prints, which I then printed from Shutterfly and then framed with Hobby Lobby frames. The JACK letters above him crib were also from Hobby Lobby. They are super cute and I love the fun font. Looking next to the crib, you’ll see the three-frame pictures with our maternity pictures (thanks Erin Stubblefield Photo!) in them. We will switch out these images with newborn photos once Jack is born! Over next to the dresser, you’ll see the fun macrame wall hanging! I love this thing. It’s SO fun to add some texture to the room and it really fill that extra space on the wall there. Last, we hung floating bookshelves on the wall to hold some of this fun baby books. This is one of my favorite pieces in the room – I love seeing those cute books on the wall.

We added a dimmable lamp behind the rocker because I wanted to be able to get up during the night without turning all of the lights on while I breastfeed (or bottle feed, whatever works best for me and Jack). It makes it so that I don’t have to wake him all the way up, but I also don’t have to fumble around with my iPhone flashlight trying to see what the heck I’m doing.

His closet was a project for us. We couldn’t figure out what to do in here for the LONGEST time, but eventually we made it happen. We opted to do one long bar across the top, with grey bins at the top for storage. We hung all his baby clothes here by size. Then, we added the two book shelves in at the bottom for more storage, just in case. In between our little bookshelves, we put his hamper. There wasn’t really a spot for the hamper anywhere else in the room, so it seemed like the perfect location. We didn’t put the doors back on the closet, because I kind of like it open (like my office closet).

After our baby shower, we were able to add WAY more clothes to the closet (they’re all to DIE for), some bins to the top shelf, AND the changing table pad. I feel totally comfortable with him coming at any time now!!

PIN THIS FOR LATER:

All in all – I am SUPER happy with the nursery. It took a while to find all the pieces I wanted to use, and I am no expert home decorator by ANY means. I struggle to put pieces together that I have to find myself. I wouldn’t say I have a crazy eye for interior design whatsoever. But, regardless of my inexperience decorating rooms, I am pretty pleased with how this turned out! I can’t wait to actually have him in it!!

What do you think – yay or nay for the nursery decor?! What did you decorate your nursery with? Let me know in the comments below!
