July Beauty Box Five.
This post is sponsored by Beauty Box Five. All opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced in any way.
This month I was lucky enough to receive a complimentary Beauty Box 5 subscription box to review. Being a sucker for all subscription boxes (hello Stitch Fix, Ipsy and Birchbox….I’m looking at you)…I waited at my mailbox for the last two weeks for it to arrive so I could compare it to my two favorite beauty boxes, Ispy and Birchbox. I personally hadn’t heard of this subscription box until recently, so let’s jump into this.
About Beauty Box 5:
This subscription box is $12/month which is a little bit more expensive than Ipsy or Birchbox. However, where Ipsy and Birchbox are a mix of sample sizes and deluxe sizes, Beauty Box 5 is a mix of full-size and deluxe sizes. So you get a little more bang for your buck (which personally, I like a lot better. Gimme products I’ll actually be able to use more than once!). They will send you a mix of hair, makeup and skincare once a month (a collection of drugstore and high-end products). The only thing that I thought maybe wasn’t the best was that I wasn’t able to choose my skin/hair type and personalize my box like I enjoy doing with Ipsy and Birchbox. Now that you know a little bit about BB5, let’s find out what was in my box this month:
Product #1: Pur~lisse Blue Lotus Seaweed Treatment Sheet Mask
I love masks. I was SO STOKED to open up my box and see this sitting on top. I talked about my ride-or-die face mask in this article a few weeks ago…so I put this mask up to the test. And. I loved it. I haven’t actually ever tried a sheet mask before, so besides scaring the crap out of my husband when he walked in the bathroom, there are no downsides to this mask. It smells good, was relaxing and decreased all the puffiness in my eyes due to my good friend ~allergies~. 10/10 would recommend to all my friends (aka you).
Product #2: Prestige Cosmetics Brow & Lash Brush
This product I could have lived without. I am already in love with my Anastasia Beverly Hills #12 brush (brow spoolie) so I doubt that I will ditch that brush in favor of this one. I’ve never used the lash side for my eyelashes because my Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara does such a good job of separating my lashes. So I would say this item is kiiiiiind of a flop. HOWEVER. My husbands eyebrows get CRAZY and this brush does a good job when I need to smooth his eyebrows down so we can look presentable together. So it’s not great for me, but works just find for Adam’s stray brow hairs. 3/10 for item #2.
Product #3: Sweep Oval Contour & Highlight Brush
I was psyched to get this product. You all know that I am a brush JUNKIE and can’t actually stop buying them. Oval brushes, however, haven’t yet made it into my beauty routine. I’ve read a lot about them but I haven’t actually bought any yet. So. My unfiltered opinion. I loved this. I loved the way that it contoured my face. Will it replace my Bdellium Tools face brush? Probably not. But it is a lot easier to travel with and fits really nicely in my hand. 8/10, BB5.
Product #4: Versaspa Gradual Tanning Face Moisturizer
I am not one to use self tanner on the daily (except occasionally I use some on my legs), but I have been using this every morning for the last couple days. I have started to see that I have a little bit of color on my face and I don’t have to use quite as much foundation. I will probably go back to my regular moisturizer though for fear of turning my face orange. 6/10 would recommend for women who already consistently use a gradual tanner on their face.
Product #5: Manna Kadar Radiance Bronzer & Highlight
I really LOVE the highlighter in this duo. It is shimmery and bright and extremely pigmented. I also like the bronzer, except for the fact that it was shimmery. I really prefer my bronzer to be matte because it looks a lot more natural. I want to give the appearance of killer cheekbones and a slim nose without glittering like a fairy, ya feel? That is what highlighter is for. 6.5/10 would recommend to my coolest friends.
All in all, I really liked this box. I like that I got full-sized items and brushes. I feel like in my Birchbox and Ipsy boxes, I get smaller items and I have never gotten face brushes from either of those subscriptions. While I worry about things like foundations, bb creams and concealer (due to the fact that I can’t choose my skin/hair type), I really like that I get full-sized products in my box. That makes it worth it to me..especially if I receive something I really, really like.
So what do you think. Would you sign up for Beauty Box 5? Are you currently subscribed to any beauty boxes that you LOVE? What should I sign up for next?
Hi Taylor! I LOVE sheet face masks. For some reason they are just more luxurious. 🙂
I know!! I agree totally!
I’ve been wanting to get some oval brushes too! Looks like a great box!
Thanks Ali! It definitely was a good box 🙂
I’ve gotten a beauty box 5 before & they are lovely. They always include a cute quote. I love the packaging as much as the products. Glad you got a good one too!

Thanks Liz! I was so excited about the brushes!
I’ve never heard of this box, either, but like you, love a good box subscription! I’ve been thinking about an oval brush as well, but definitely need to watch a few tutorials before committing! I have to laugh about you using the eye brow brush for your husband, I was just teasing my husband today about his “beauty” regime, and he would actually probably do well with one of these! Hilarious that the face mask spooked your husband. I enjoy wearing them and often do the same to my husband 😉 Thanks for your honest reviews on each of these items and this box!

Heather! Thank you for visiting my page and leaving such an awesome comment. 🙂 I gotta say — I adore the layout of your blog. I can’t wait to read more!
I really like beauty boxes! I really like the highlighter as well. That looks really nice. I haven’t heard of the brand before though. The rest of the items in the box seem nice as well!
It was a great box. Highly recommend. 🙂
It is a fairly new brand — but seems super promising 🙂
I still haven’t made the plunge on any subscription boxes, but this one sounds pretty cool. I’ve never seen a make-up brush like the oval one, so that would be worth it for me. The mask sounds pretty great too.
I know. The brush alone was worth it to me!!!! 🙂 Try this one out!
A makeup artist used an oval brush on me recently and I just about fell asleep — it felt so calming! ha.

I know. They’re AMAZING.
Lovely beauty box.. Oh my! I love unboxing!~ Cool.. The items inside are full of surprises!~
I love unboxing too!! It is so fun!
I’ve never heard of this one either! I’ve used ipsy and birchbox in the past, but recently unsubscribed because I felt like I was getting the same stuff and/or similar products over and over. This one looks really different though! May have to give it a whirl!
If you try it, let me know what you think! I would love to see what you get!! I also feel like Ipsy and Birchbox continually gave me the same/similar items.
I’ve never heard of this box, but I really liked the type of products that you got!

Thanks lady! I really liked it!
What a luxurious beauty box! There are some major cool products in here 🙂
I’ve been wanting to get a set of oval brushes but haven’t made any decisions yet. Would you say they’re worth it over the traditional makeup brushes? xx

I really like the oval brushes!!! They apply beautifully.
The only product I could really see myself using from this box is the bronzer and highlighter duo! I am so hit and miss with beauty subscription boxes, so I don’t think I’ll every commit to one 🙁
It definitely can be a gamble! But I always feel like I have to try 🙂
You got some really great products! I have never heard of this box before. I have been wanting to try some oval brushes but have been skeptic about them. That face mask sounds amazing!
I LOVED the oval brush and would highly recommend the face mask 🙂 Not too expensive either!
I’ve never heard of that box…..now you have my interested. ????
Definitely try it out!
Wow.. I’ve never heard of this box but looks like great beauty box. I need to check this out!
Let me know if you do!! 🙂
Looks like you got some great items! I haven’t yet subscribed to any boxes, partially because of so many sample size things and also because my skin is really particular, so it wouldn’t really like me using tons of different products. Maybe I’ll give it a try at some point. I am so behind on makeup trends, this is the first I’m hearing about oval brushes! I better get the deets.
Meaghan xx
Oval brushes are AMAZING.
