HAPPY #beautymonday, fam! My hair posts typically do SO well with you guys and it has been a HOT SECOND since I posted one – so in honor of my new status as mama, I’m going to share my easiest hairstyles for the new mom. There is some criteria that I use to decide if it’s “new mom” friendly, so here we go. It must:

  1. Take 10 minutes or LESS to do. We have things to do, babies to feed, diapers to change.
  2. Require minimal styling tools: bobby pins, elastics and hairspray at the MAX.
  3. Not be easily ripped out of place by flying baby hands
  4. Withstand all-day running around

Five Easy Hairstyles For The New Mom

What You’ll Need:

The Braided Half Knot

  1. Pull all your hair up in a high half pony tail.
  2. Loosen hair up around your face.
  3. Tease your pony tail extra volume.
  4. Braid your pony tail.
  5. Wrap braid around the base of your elastic.
  6. Secure with bobby pins.
  7. Spray to hold.

Boxer Braids

  1. Part hair down the center.
  2. Begin dutch braiding each side.
  3. Pull dutch braid out for texture and volume.
  4. Loosen hair up around your face.
  5. Spray to hold.

Low Messy Bun + Baseball Cap

  1. Pull hair back with invisibobble.
  2. Wrap twice, messily.
  3. Pull pieces out around face.
  4. Throw on baseball cap.

High Messy Bun with a Hair Scarf

  1. Pull hair up into high bun with invisibobble.
  2. Pull pieces out around face.
  3. Bobby pin any loose hairs around bun.
  4. Wrap hair scarf around messy bun.

French Braid Top Knot

*this works best on second day curls!!*

  1. French braid from center of forehead back to crown of hair.
  2. Tie off with elastic.
  3. Tease pony tail for extra volume.
  4. Wrap into messy bun.
  5. Pin loose hairs.
  6. Spray to hold.

Honestly, these have been my GO-TO hair looks for the last four months since baby Jack’s arrival and they truly are so EASY. The best part is they look like you actually tried to do your hair (LOL). I have gotten pretty good at them now, and usually they don’t take more than 5-7 minutes start to finish. That’s my kinda hair style. The less time I spend on my hair, the more time I can spend with my little man.

What is your favorite easy go-to hairstyle?!
