DermOrganic Hair Product Review
Happy #BEAUTYMONDAY, everyone! I’m so happy to see you have stopped by Blonde & Ambitious today. Recently, my hair has been having a rough go of it. I’ve been in and out of humidity (which does a number on hair anyways), am battling extremely dry hair due to a wedding hair highlight disaster (story for another day) and have lots of split ends because I am really bad about getting a trim every six months. Like I said, my poor hairs are a walking disaster. So, obviously, when Dermorganic reached out wanting me to review some of their hair products, I said bring it on. It can only go up from here, right?!
This post is sponsored by Dermorganic and Ulta Beauty. All opinions expressed in this post are mine and mine alone.
So a little bit about this brand: Dermorganic claims that they are cruelty-free and vegan. They also make all of their products with certified organic ingredients, and that their products are made without sulfates, salt, sodium chloride, artificial preservatives, parabens, PABA, propylene glycol, petroleum, MEA, DEA, colors or dyes. That is the promise they have for their customers. Sounds pretty good to me! Although I do not use exclusively cruelty-free and vegan hair and makeup products, I do try to take part in purchasing those products when possible. They have bright packaging and pretty bottles, which is an added bonus as well.
Well, that’s great Taylor. I’m so so so happy that they look pretty. But tell me how they actually hold up in your hair. Ok, ok. I’ll cut to the chase. In my opinion, these products earn a solid A rating from me. Below I am breaking down each item for you:
Color Care Sulfate-Free Shampoo — $18
Claim: Gentle cleansing cream made with mild skin cleansers to gently lift away dirt and oils while preserving the life of hair color. Ultra-mild cleanser seals in shine. Hair color stays vibrant and retains a lasting tone.
Real Life: This shampoo did a great job cleaning my hair. I did not feel any residue or oils left in my hair after using the product once a day for 5 days. It was shiny, bouncy and while I can’t really attest to preserving the life of my hair color at this point in time, it did brighten the tone of my hair and breathe a new breath of life into my desperately-needs-a-trip-to-the-salon hair.
Color Care Conditioner — $18
Claim: Color Care Conditioner is made from wholesome ingredients that improve manageability while enhancing hair color luminosity. Eliminates tangles and improves styling manageability. Hair color stays vibrant and retains a lasting color tone.
Real Life: I really like this conditioner. It didn’t leave my hair feeling greasy or oily after using, which happens quite often to me because I have thin hair. I didn’t have a hard time getting any tangles out and I felt like my split ends had reduced a little bit.
8-Way Thermal Spray — $18
Claim: 8 Way Thermal Spray is a heat-activated leave-in spray that protects and improves the health of well-worn hair. Made with 7 organic ingredients including argan oil, moisturizing EFA lipids and restorative rice amino acids that infuse the hair with needed nourishment.
Real Life: Guys. Guuuuuuys. This stuff just became a staple in my hair styling routine. I have been looking for a spray that I feel truly does protect my hair. Since I curl or straighten my hair almost every day (although I have done a good job of letting my hair air dry and go without heat styling this summer!), I really need this kind of protection.
Fast Dry Shaping Spray Plus Hold — $18
Claim: Fast Dry Shaping Spray outperforms your favorite 80s hairspray! Plus hold formula contains a proprietary blend of three eco-friendly polymers designed to dry fast and keep hair in place all day. Dries on contact. Ultra fine mist for inside-out support maintains shapes even after brushing. Never sticky or heavy, sets hair quickly and easily for texture and all-day style support.
Real Life: I have to admit. I usually use the cheapest hairspray I can find at Target (stop shaking your head at me I KNOW OK). Just wanted you to know that my standards on hairspray aren’t that high. That being said: I love the smell and hold of this hairspray. I used it during my photoshoot this past weekend with my favorite photographer, Michelle, and it held up my hair through three outfit changes. My curls stayed bouncy and flouncy all day long.
Leave-in Spray Shine Therapy — $20
Claim: Leave-In Shine Therapy seals, repairs and protects. Fine mist spray for easy application on long hair and especially for curls, adds softness, eliminates frizz and improves slip. Speeds blow dry time, protects cuticle and offers incredible shine and sleekness.
Real Life: This did exactly what it claimed to do. I used it when I straightened my hair and could see a noticeable difference in the shine and softness of my hair. I don’t have frizzy or curly hair, so I can’t say how it would stand up with that hair type but for my fine-straight-hair ladies — this is a product you absolutely should try.
Travel Gift Try-Me Set — $10
Claim: “Travel Gift” Box Set of Weekender sizes contains one Conditioning Shampoo 2.0 oz, one Masque Hair Repair 2.0 oz, and one Leave-In Treatment 0.17 oz. Perfect stocking stuffer, party favor gift, or overnight/weekender or “try-me” set.
Real Life: Yes. It did in fact contain all of those things. The conditioning shampoo wasn’t anything spectacular. It did about the same as all other conditioners I’ve tried does. The masque hair repair treatment, on the other hand, was really really awesome. It sealed my split ends and made my hair much softer overall. The leave-in treatment felt great in my hair at first but like most leave in treatments, with fine hair I did feel a little bit of greasy-ness at my roots. Not unexpected but kind of a bummer!
PIN THIS FOR LATER:
Well there you have it! Another comprehensive review on products you may or may not try in the future. Like I said, these products do a really great job. I was pleasantly surprised and I honestly feel like they would work for a variety of hair types. I am pretty picky with hair products because most think make my hair feel greasy. Oh the joys of having fine hair! Luckily, only one of these products really did that in this bundle. If you have thick hair, you literally don’t have anything to worry about.
If you do decide to try these products out, you should absolutely take advantage of the sale ULTA Beauty will be running from 9/5 to 9/25 both in-stores and online! The promotion will be a free 1.7 oz Argan Oil with any $20 DermOrganic purchase. Talk about an awesome deal!
