Blanket Scarves and Duck Boots
Happy #FASHIONWEDNESDAY! We are half way through the week, thank goodness! Last week I got to hang out with Michelle and take some fun pictures for Blonde & Ambitious. Today, I am going to show you how to style blanket scarves and duck boots! Everyone loves blanket scarves this time of year (they are so stinkin’ cozy) and duck boots are totally underrated. A few falls ago they made an appearance and now I am totally bringing them back. I love that they are furry on the inside, too, without being tall and cumbersome like my snow boots. They are the perfect “transitional” shoe! So let’s dive into this.
Blanket Scarves and Duck Boots
TIP ONE: Grab that bright lipstick, yo.
It is crucial to this outfit to brighten up your face with a swipe of your favorite matching lipstick. I coordinated my lips with the pop of red in my scarf. Because the rest of my outfit is so neutral, I wanted to make sure I had color on my face. ESPECIALLY since I was wearing glasses. I love my glasses but they hide your eyes a little bit so putting a bright color on your eyes won’t stand out quite as much. I challenge you to go outside your comfort zone and put on the boldest lipstick you own today!
TIP TWO: Neutral but unique.
This is my favorite sweater because it combines the perfect blend of completely neutral (I mean the whole sweater is cream so it doesn’t get more neutral than that) but this particular sweater has a cute little metal design on each arm. I have had it for a few years and am completely obsessed still. I like the 3/4 length sleeves because it can sometimes get a little bit toasty in blanket scarves. Moral of the story is: pick something neutral with a little flair for fun.
TIP THREE: Quack quack.
Ducks boots are one of my favorite types of shoes. They are waterproof so I can wear them in the rain (it is often rainy here in the fall) and they are fuzzy on the inside so that I don’t freeze to death. I want these to be in style forever. Even if they’re not, I think I will still wear them. Who cares what everyone else is doing…I’ma do my own thang. I’m pretty certain these are a knock off of the original Sperry brand, but since they still look fab, it doesn’t bother me. I don’t know what brand they are exactly, but shoes like these aren’t hard to find. I will link to a similar pair at the bottom of this post!!
TIP FOUR: Oh heyyyyy blanket scarf. I see u.
I love blanket scarves. I now have 4 (I know, I know) but what am I supposed to do. I love them. They are so cozy and I am so cold all the time here in Idaho. A couple of weeks ago in Church, I actually took my scarf off and wrapped it around my legs. The name rings true — blankets for all! And I love plaid. 90% of the blanket scarves I have seen are plaid. At least, every single one of mine are. They are the perfect accessory to the neutral color sweater. AND usually you can pull out one or two colors to use in your makeup to tie it all back together.
Okay, kiddos. There you have it. Blanket scarves and duck boots. I have this outfit on repeat and I think you should, too! What are your favorite shoes to wear in the fall?? Do you have a favorite pair that I totally need to buy right now?
