Why You Should Be Juicing

Happy  FRI-YAY! I am so glad for the end of another week. My husband and I have spent all week putting together the furniture we bought for our new home! IKEA — you’ve got to have better instructions. #realtalk. I can’t wait to show you our home as soon as it’s finished! That’s for another day though — today, I am talking a little bit of health and fitness (because, you know, I’m a leading expert LOL). But actually. My hubs and I have decided that it’s time for us to eat better. For some reason, only eating pizza and pop tarts isn’t the “adult” thing to do now that we’re graduated. We were gifted a really nice juicer for our wedding, and we finally have a place to put it. We did some research, found a recipe and after nine months, used it for the first time. Here’s why YOU should be juicing, too:

Why YOU Should Be Juicing (almost daily)

Juicing using a cool kitchen gadget called a juicer. (I know. No one saw that coming). Our particular model is the Bella High Power Juicer:

My parents have been juicing forever, and that was the original reason I put this on our registry. I like juices because they taste delicious. But the juicer is kind of a pain to clean. SO why bother?

Benefit #1: It is the fastest way to get all your fruits and vegetables.

People have a hard time eating their daily serving of fruits and vegetables for some reason. Nobody tends to reach into the fridge and slice up a cucumber or pepper. When you juice, you just shove half a cucumber in there and call it a day. Most people can drink more than they can eat, which means you get more bang for your buck.

Benefit #2: Unlocks to highly concentrated vitamins you need so much.

Say hello to superfoods! Highly concentrated vitamins, nutrients, enzymes and minerals can easily enter the blood stream and flood your body. This is not only AMAZING for obvious reasons, but it is also wonderful because it allows your digestive organs to take a little break. Digesting liquids is a heck of a lot easier than digesting solids.

why you should be juicing

 Benefit #3: Lowers high cholesterol.

Do you have a problem with high cholesterol? You aren’t alone. A TON of people do (even if you aren’t aware of it). Keep your already-healthy level of cholesterol in check, or lower your high cholesterol, by juicing. Juicing foods like cucumbers, dark greens, ginger and melon all aid in lowering cholesterol. Your health should always come first, and this is a good step in that direction.

Benefit #4: Helps make your skin literally glow.

It all goes back to all of the nutrients that juicing unlocks (see benefit #2). Your skin needs essential vitamins and minerals to look and feel it’s best. Besides drinking water, juicing helps keep your skin hydrated and acne-free. Juicing cuts down on the amount of oil my face produces as well. Because juicing is a natural appetite suppressor, I don’t reach for junk food nearly as much. Healthy foods = health skin. It’s that simple.

Benefit #5: Natural stress reliever.

Who couldn’t use a natural stress reliever, amiright? All those vitamins and nutrients work to relax your mind and body to help you sleep better, increase your energy during the day, and calms you down. Your body is aching for healthy food. Juicing makes getting those leafy greens enjoyable and easy. Go ahead. Take a load off.

I used to juice a lot in 2015 and the first half of 2016. I should get back to it. I like it mainly for the first benefit because otherwise I don’t get nearly enough vegetables. Should try juicing at least once a week. I have a friend who did a 10 day juice cleanse to start the new year!

    • Taylor Mobley | 13th Jan 17

That is an AWESOME way to start the year!!!! I looooove juice cleanses!

  4. Laura Mitbrodt | 13th Jan 17

  7. A.Antovska | 13th Jan 17

  8. Belle | 13th Jan 17

I’ve never tried juicing before. I have to give this a try; it’s so much healthier than buying juice from the store.

Yes. I love knowing EXACTLY what is in my juice. No extra sugar.

  9. karen | 13th Jan 17

I think after doing more IKEA directions I would need to juice some vodka into my system! haha… But, yes – juicing is a great way to get so many vitamins and get that healthy stuff all pumping through your body!

    • Taylor Mobley | 13th Jan 17

Oh wow truer words have never been spoken. We are on day two and have only put together three pieces of furniture. LOL.

  10. Anna nuttall | 13th Jan 17

My husband does juicing so I will show him this cool recipe. xx

  11. Greta | 13th Jan 17

I’ve never considered juicing, but I’ll do anything to make my skin glow! I’ll have to try this.

  13. Becca Michelle | 13th Jan 17

This was a great introduction to juicing ! I like juice but I’m more a smoothie person. My big thing with juice is no matter how hard I try to hide my greens in there, it still taste like greens 🙁

    • Taylor Mobley | 13th Jan 17

Hahah! I find that if I am going to put in spinach or kale, I need to use a lemon or orange. I’ve heard pineapple hides the taste well too, but I’m allergic to it so I can’t say for sure. 😉

  14. Tiffany E | 13th Jan 17

I would LOVE fresh juices everyday, lawd but the cleaning up is annoying like you mentioned. If only I can abracadabra 🙂 Thanks for sharing your juicing experience.

    • Taylor Mobley | 13th Jan 17

You are so welcome! The cleaning is annoying but I think worth it!

  15. Dominique | 13th Jan 17

My juicer broke! So sad! When I get another, I’m totally trying your recipe!

    • Taylor Mobley | 14th Jan 17

You’ll have to let me know if you like it!!

  16. Angela Tolsma | 13th Jan 17

Your recipe sounds so good! I have never juiced anything before and I’ve been wondering if the benefits are backed by actual scientific fact! Definitely have to look into it more!

  17. Nicola | 13th Jan 17

I love the idea of juicing…I am rubbish at making sure I eat enough fruit. I love vegetables but have always struggled with fruit as do my children. Will perhaps start juicing to see if that helps!

    • Taylor Mobley | 14th Jan 17

I hope that it does! Definitely a better way to get those fruits and veggies in!

  18. michelle | 13th Jan 17

This is great and I totally agree. Juicing is the way to go!

  19. Divya @ Eat. Teach. Blog. | 13th Jan 17

I just posted a meme on my FB page that made me giggle and wished it were actually true. About juicing Doritos. Haahhaa. Only joking, but kind of not because Doritos are just oh-so-good!

I have a juicer but I don’t use it much because it is such a pain to clean! Making my own orange juice is amazing though.

    • Taylor Mobley | 14th Jan 17

That is SO true. I love fresh orange juice!!!

  22. Roxanne | 13th Jan 17

Great post! My mom sent me a juicer for my birthday last year. My kids love it. We’ve made some delicious creations!

  23. Liz | 13th Jan 17

I’ve been avoiding juicing since everyone started doing it because I saw leafy veggies in drinks and it scared me away haha. Your drink looks really good though! I might reconsider!

  24. Rebecca Hicks | 14th Jan 17

I got a juicer for Christmas a few years ago, and now you’ve made me want to pull it out and make some juice! I LOVE homemade juice, especially when it’s nice and fresh. My favorite combo is orange, apple, pear, spinach and cucumber. Yum!

    • Taylor Mobley | 14th Jan 17

That sounds AMAZING. Totally making it tomorrow!

  25. Laura | 14th Jan 17

I have heard so many great things about juicing! I really love packing in nutrients with smoothies so I’m sure I’d love juicing as well!

  26. Lindsey Paris | 14th Jan 17

I don’t have a juicer, but I do have a ninja – that thing can blend everything down soooooo finely. Especially spinach!

  27. Tanvi Rastogi | 14th Jan 17

Great post! I too love juicing.

My husband and I love to juice. We’ve done a 3 day juicing detox a couple different times and afterwards we feel so much better. Great recipe by the way 🙂

  29. Silvia | 14th Jan 17

This is all very true! I’m a huge believer in juicing and have done it a couple times! I can’t do it while on Whole 30 but once I’m done with it I will definitely start juicing again!

  30. Mandy Carter | 14th Jan 17

Juicing is something I really want to love. But it keeps getting pushed back on my priorities to really focus on. THat ones sounds delicious.

  31. Heather | 14th Jan 17

I’ve never bought a juicer but it sounds like I could get a lot of use out of it. Plus anything that can help with my stress sounds good to me! Your recipe sounds tasty!

    • Taylor Mobley | 15th Jan 17

Let me know if you try it Heather, and what you think!

  32. Brittany | 14th Jan 17

My husband and I loved juicing last year! We did it every morning, but the problem we ran into was the price. It added up so quickly! One day we’ll get back into it.

  33. Amanda Rosson | 14th Jan 17

I love the idea of juicing and really want to start doing it daily! There just seem to be so many health benefits!

  34. Toughcookiemommy | 15th Jan 17

I love the fact that juicing gives your body the vitamins that it needs. It’s a great way to get those nutrients on-the-go and in a great tasting form.

  35. Jeanine | 15th Jan 17

I haven’t ever considered juicing but think it wold be a really great idea! I would love to see about it when I stop nursing my little one, I think it would be great for after that to start getting my body back and healthy.

  36. Reesa Lewandowski | 15th Jan 17

I started juicing years ago when my husband and I moved in together since he had a Juice Man Jr LOL. We then upgraded to a Breville and LOVE IT!

  37. Nikki Arnold | 15th Jan 17

I would love to get a juicer to make myself a healthy drink in the morning. I always drink my coffee, but this would be so much healthier. Plus I feel like I don’t always get enough fruits and vegetables throughout the day and this is a great way to combine them.

  38. Di | 15th Jan 17

I prefer smoothies over juicing and recommend smoothies to all my personal training clients over juicing. Why? Fiber!

    • Taylor Mobley | 15th Jan 17

Smoothies are a great source of fiber! I just hate the texture of smoothies, so I supplement with fiber elsewhere. 🙂 Sometimes I use the left over peels from juicing in muffins as well!

  39. Joscelyn | 16th Jan 17

Love fresh juice! Will have to try your recipe!

  40. Jeanelly | 16th Jan 17

I’ve always wanted to juice, but the juice shop products are so dang expensive! Definitely buying myself a juicer and doing this at home!

Juicing gets a bad rep because people don’t do it correctly. They either only juice or they use too much fruit. I love this piece! It’s a great way to get in your fruit and veggies and is way better than packaged juice.

    • Taylor Mobley | 16th Jan 17

Thanks so much! I love knowing exactly what I’m putting in my body!

  42. Leo Tat | 19th Feb 17

I’ve been considering juicing for a while, Taylor. With juicing, we can pack a lot of nutrients into one serving. How often do you juice? Do you juice and eat a meal in the same day or do you do juice fasts? I’ve done water fasts, the longest one is four days, and I lost 8 kg of fat in just those days. It surprised me as I’m not overweight, to begin with, and what’s more, my abs were showing after the fast.

    • Taylor Mobley | 19th Feb 17

I do juicing as my breakfast, so I eat regular meals the rest of the day. I have done 48 hour juice fasts and I love I way I feel after!

  43. Genevia | 5th Jun 17

I hate eating fruits and am always on the lookout for fruit juices. Many of my friends think juices are not as healthy as fruits! I guess I can prove them wrong now!
