Happy #BEAUTYMONDAY! 🙂 I hope you had a spectacular weekend and aren’t hating on Monday TOO much (but it’s totally cool to hate a little bit). I know I usually use Monday’s to talk about my fav beauty products or a tutorial, but today I’m bringing you something different (but still beauty related I swear). I’m talking about Function of Beauty, a hair care system that is totally customized for YOU. I was a tiny bit skeptical that someone could formulate a hair care product based entirely on an online quiz, but I wasn’t disappointed. Let’s jump into this Function of Beauty shampoo & conditioner review.
“You should have ownership and choice with the products you use. We put your name on your bottles because they’re developed and formulated for you. We celebrate you as the unique individual that you are; who you are and what you want – beyond your hair type, goals and preferences.”
So, before I got my set, I have to be honest. I wanted it 90% because it says my name and it looked pretty. I KNOW I’M SUPERFICIAL. I GET IT OKAY. But it’s true. I loved the way they looked, with their pretty bottles and bright colors and personalized title.
First things first, in order to get your set, you have to take an online quiz on the Function of Beauty website. They ask questions like: hair type, hair structure, and scalp moisture. I chose straight, fine and oily because maybe one day I’ll find a shampoo that lets me go more than one day in between washing my hair (a girl can dream). Then, it wants you to select 5 hair goals. I can’t remember the exact ones I picked but I am positive oil control and volume were at least two.
MY FAVORITE PART OF WAS CHOOSING THE COLOR BECAUSE Y’ALL KNOW THAT I WANTED PINK. Part of me almost wanted to choose the dye-free one and be all eat pray love and organic but I couldn’t because I loved the idea of pretty pink shampoo too much, so if someday I die from something related to dyes in hair products, I think I’ll be okay with it.
You also get to choose which scent you want, and I went on the safe side with their essential oil mix. It has notes of eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender, rosemary, peppermint and spearmint. I was not disappointed, because it smells DANG amazing. I also chose the “strong” fragrance strength because I like to be able to smell my hair all day like I just left a salon.
Actually, this shampoo was awesome. The peppermint, tea tree and spearmint made my head tingle in a good way. Like the shampoo was actually doing something to my hair which I loved. I am on day two of not washing my hair but it still looks really good (and I haven’t even used dry shampoo yet). Usually I can barely make it every other day because of the oils on my scalp. I love the smell and can smell it for quite a long time before it fades which I personally like. If you are someone who DOESN’T want to smell the shampoo, you can opt to get the light fragrance option.
All-in-all, I vote this shampoo to get a 10/10 in appearance and a 8/10 in how it works. I knocked two points off because at $36, you only get two 8oz bottles, so I think the price is a little steep for everyday people. But since it works, I would definitely recommend taking the plunge!
Well, friends. There you have it. My Function of Beauty Shampoo & Conditioner Review. I think this company has an awesome message: that every one of us is unique and we deserve products that reflect that. Nobody can fit into a one size fits all hair care line. I appreciate that way of thinking!
